Q: Does it cost more if my hair is longer, thicker, or curlier?
A: Not at all. The cost for a blowout for everyone is $40. If your hair is very long, thick, or textured, we can handle it and make you look and feel beautiful, for just $40. If your hair is especially thick, curly, or textured and may take us longer than 45 minutes to an hour to style, please give us a call so we can be sure we allow extra time for your blowout, at no extra charge.
Q: How much do extensions cost?
A: The cost of extensions varies depending on the amount and type of extensions. Call us to schedule a free consultation appointment where you will come in, talk to a stylist about what you want done, and figure out how much it will cost.
Q: Is Up Your Hair just for people with a certain look?
A: No. All looks are welcome! We’re here to help you express your inner style whether it’s tame, teased, punk or pretty. Many of our clients have conservative taste and many don’t, so we’ve seen it all and enjoyed making it happen. We believe in diversity whether it’s edgy or not.
Q: Can I walk in for an appointment?
A: Appointments made ahead of time are always your best bet, but walk-ins can be available depending on the day and time. Feel free to give us a call on your way and we’ll let you know if we can fit you in.
Q: I like to dye my hair at home. Will I get attitude from your stylists about that?
A: Never! Up Your Hair believes strongly in DIY (Do It Yourself) style. We’ll even give you tips on how you can best achieve the look you want and help you pick out the right supplies to get it done. Just stop in and ask.
Q: What if I'm unhappy with my hair?
A: Talk to your stylist. Up Your Hair Salon is extremely confident in our team members' abilities. However, if there is a misunderstanding, your stylist will want to know! If you feel uncomfortable talking to your stylist, please email upyourhair@gmail.com to reach the owner or simply ask to speak with the owner if available.
Q: How often should I get my haircut?
A: If you are looking for a wash and wear style that requires a minimum amount of styling, the secret lies in regular trims every 4-6 weeks. The new bobs are so easy to care for, as they seem to fall into place.
Q: How far in advance should I book my appointment?
A: We recommend all clients scheduling their appointments at the beginning of the week if they want an appointment on a week day, 1 - 2 weeks in advance for Friday or Saturday. We highly recommend pre-booking appointments before leaving the salon if you see a specific service provider. Walk-ins are permitted if time is available.
Q:Will you remind me of my appointment?
A:Yes. Your appointment will be confirmed 24 hours in advance.
Q: Can I cut and color my hair at the same day?
A: Yes. We suggest that you schedule your color appointment first though.
Q: Can I come in for a consultation?
A: Yes. We love to meet our clients, find out what their hair goals are and how we can reach those goals together. We do this free of charge.
Q: How much should I tip?
A: A professional stylist who maintains your look, who stays up-to-date with the latest techniques, deserves your appreciation. Tipping for service at a salon is typically handled as you would tipping for service in a restaurant. Generally 18-20% of the total service is appropriate, depending upon how you feel the quality of service was, and don't forget to tip the shampooist.
Q: How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
A: We ask that you call at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment should you need to cancel or reschedule; so that we have an opportunity to book someone else who might call in for a last minute appointment.
Q: What is your return and exchange policy?
A: The sale of gift cards is final, there are no returns accepted. * All pricing is subject to change without notice. We will accept returns of all professional hair products within a two week period, assuming that the hair product has been minimally used. Electrical equipment (such as blow dryers, styling wands, etc.) are non-refundable, however their individual manufactures warranty applies. All facial cosmetics, makeup and nail polish sales are final and may not be returned
Q: Do you Offer a Guarantee?
A: If for any reason we fail to meet your expectations with any of our services or customer support, please let us know. We will re-do any service you are not satisfied with if brought to our attention within a two week time period following your service. If you have suggestions for our business that will help us to improve our salon or any aspect of the customer service experience, please let us know. We would love to hear from you!
Q: Are You Hiring?
A: From time to time we hire new members who are a good fit with our salon. We are always interested in receiving resumes, even during times when we are fully staffed. Things happen so we welcome your application if you are interested in a position with Up Your Hair Salon. Applications will be held for up to 90 days.
Q: Will we all start and end at the same time if we are in a large group?
A: Each guest's start and end times may vary, though we do try to keep everyone in a group as close together in proximity and in time as is possible. Your group is welcome to relax and hang out together throughout the salon, even if some are finished with or waiting for their service.
Q: Can I pick a specific stylist?
A: Sure. You can request a stylist by name if you have a favorite. Otherwise, we encourage you to choose the time that works best for you. Any and all of our stylists are fun and will give you a fabulous look.

Q: What is Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy?
A: The Smoothing Therapy line is comprised of advanced, in-salon treatments that restore and restructure the hair by infusing a special blend of hydrolyzed keratin deep into the cuticle. The hydrolyzed keratin is bonded to the cuticle with heat from a flat iron to relax the hair's subcuticle layer, resulting in renewed smoothness and shine.
Q: What is the difference between the Natural Keratin Smoothing Treatment and Express Blow Out?
A: Natural Keratin Smoothing Treatment, our signature Smoothing Therapy, was created especially for frizzy, curly texture and is effective on all hair types. It is a revitalizing and rejuvenating treatment that seals keratin into the cuticle to lock out frizz-causing humidity and reduce curl. One treatment gives long-lasting results for up to five months and requires a 72-hour waiting period post-treatment. Our newest Smoothing Therapy, Express Blow Out, is a unique, one-hour service that gives the hair a softer, smoother and silkier texture for up to six weeks. Hair can be washed after just eight hours. Express Blow Out is perfect for all hair types.
Q: How much time should be allowed for each client?
A: Time should be determined on an individual basis. Keratin Complex recommends an initial consultation with each client to determine hair length, type and texture. As a general rule, please allow a two- to three-hour window for the Natural Keratin Smoothing Treatment and a one-hour window for Express Blow Out.
Q: What results can be expected after the Natural Keratin Smoothing Treatment?
A: The hair will be more manageable and easy to style, and will be resistant to humidity. It will feel noticeably softer and silkier, with added life, shine and vibrance.
Q: Should the hair be colored before or after the treatment application?
A: A great time to have the treatment done is directly after permanent color, semi-permanent color or highlights. The treatment seals the color in, making it last longer and appear more vibrant. If you choose to have color applied after the treatment, we recommend waiting at least two weeks.
Q: Should the hair be cut before or after the treatment?
A: We recommend that the hair be cut after the treatment, as the hair will have a smoother texture and will lie differently.
Q: Can the treatments be done on chemically treated, relaxed or straightened hair?
A: Yes; in fact, the Smoothing Therapy treatments work to repair damage caused by chemical treatments. It is recommended to wait two weeks between any chemical services and adjust iron temperature based on hair type as listed in instructions.
Q: How many days after the Natural Keratin Smoothing Treatment before the hair can get wet or be washed?
A: You must wait three days (72 hours) before washing your hair or swimming.
Q: Can the hair be pulled back or clipped up during the 72-hour waiting period?
A: No. Avoid making any impressions on the hair from clips, ponytail holders, hats or sunglasses.
Q: What should be done if the hair gets wet during the 72-hour waiting period?
A: Blow-dry and flat iron with medium to low heat as soon as possible.
Q: What kind of shampoo and conditioner should be used?

Q:Can you do the Hair Taming System over the Japanese straightening?
Yes, the Global Keratin Hair Taming System with JUVEXIN can be applied over any kind of permanent straightening.
Q:Is it best to apply the Hair Taming System before or after coloring?
For optimal results, color/highlighting processes should be done before applying the Global Keratin Hair Taming System with JUVEXIN. In addition, both procedures may be done on the same visit. Otherwise, wait 2 weeks after the treatment application to apply color/highlights.

Q:Can I use styling products during the first 3 days?
Styling products can be used after the first shampoo. However, we recommend that you always use the Global Keratin Hair Taming System with JUVEXIN line of product that are specifically designed with JUVEXIN.
